Tony Butterworth Photography

Tony has been an active photographer for almost 30 years from when he began creating images during his service in the Royal Air Force.
Unwilling to be constrained by convention he believes passionately that photography should be appreciated subjectively and maintains that, as far as this particular art-form is concerned, 'anything goes'. He confesses to being uncomfortable with photography being viewed as a competitive endeavour and has expressed concern that photographic organisations place too much emphasis on their competition syllabus. "Amateur photographers should be both encouraged and challenged to experiment, create and ENJOY!"

Tony has undertaken commissions and assignments which vary in subject matter from corporate events and press images to social documentation and commercial advertising. His main passion, however, remains the landscape of the Pennine moors around the Yorkshire and Derbyshire borders.
This diverse and unique environment provides ever changing photographic challenges, not least because of its constantly varied and often hostile weather.
